G-Tel Engineering Achieves 1 Million Hours Without Lost Time Injury

G-TEL Engineering, part of the OEC family of companies, recently achieved the significant milestone of 1,000,000 hours worked, with no lost time injuries. This achievement represents nearly 2 years of dedicated focus and effort. “Employee safety is of utmost importance for all of us at G-Tel,” said Tom Blake, General Manager.  “This achievement not only means that we are working safely, but it allows G-Tel the opportunity to seek new business opportunities and renew existing contracts. The utility owners we work for expect us to work safely. This signifies to our partners that we make safety our priority.” OEC’s award-winning ‘Stayin’ Alive’ Safety Program was born out of the company’s commitment to Safety, and to this day, it continues to drive home the message that safety is of the utmost importance at work, and at home.

OEC’s G-TEL and PVS Earn Multiple Wins at the ORCGA Locate Rodeo

Oakville Enterprises Corporation (OEC) is proud to announce our businesses’ recent successes at the 2018 Ontario Region Common Ground Alliance Association (ORCGA) Utility Locate Rodeo in Barrie, ON. Our companies, G-TEL Engineering and PVS Contractors, recently competed at the rodeo resulting in an excellent showing of locating quality and workmanship with multiple top three finishes!

The ORCGA Utility Locate Rodeo is the only one of its kind in Canada. This challenging and prestigious event happens annually and provides a stage to highlight the locating profession. The rodeo allows professionals to demonstrate the safety, skills and continual educational efforts that are needed to excel in their line of work through friendly competitions in the divisions of telecommunication, gas, water, power and ‘Locate from Hell’. Within these divisions, G-Tel had two 1st place finishes and PVS achieved one 1st place finish and three 3rd place finishes.

We are also proud to announce that G-Tel founder and former owner Ken Ritchie was honoured at this year’s event and moving forward the “Locate From Hell” Division will be known as the “Ken Ritchie Memorial Locate Challenge”.

OEC would like to congratulate each of our participants and volunteers for their outstanding representation at this year’s rodeo! We look forward to seeing our 1st place finishers represent G-Tel and PVS at the International Utility Locate Rodeo in 2019.

PVS Contractors Achieves 1.5 Million Hours Without Lost Time Injury

PVS Contractors, part of the OEC family of companies, recently received the Infrastructure Health and Safety Association (IHSA) President’s Award for 1,500,000 hours worked with no lost time injuries. This achievement represents over 5 years of dedicated focus and effort.
 
“At PVS, safety is our top priority,” said Jason Edwards, General Manager. “That is why I share this news with tremendous pride and gratitude to all our employees for their vigilance and consistency in monitoring and reviewing workplace hazards allowing us to meet this incredible milestone.”

OEC Signs Gender Diversity Accord

(Oakville, ON) February 16, 2018 – Oakville Enterprises (OEC) demonstrated its commitment to gender diversity with Rob Lister, President and CEO, signing the Canadian Electricity Industry Leadership Accord on Gender Diversity (the Accord). Gender Diversity Accord

The Accord is a public commitment by employers, educators, unions and governments to promote the values of diversity and inclusion within their organizations. It provides a sector-specific platform to create a culture of equality and inclusion throughout the workforce and at all levels, while facilitating greater opportunities for women in traditionally male dominated positions.
