Under Rob’s direction, Oakville Enterprises (OEC) and its group of companies has grown to become a leading energy and infrastructure services organization in Ontario and beyond. Through its 13 operating brands, OEC operates a dynamic portfolio of synergistic businesses specializing in Electricity Distribution, Infrastructure Services, Energy Services, and Generation.
For 40 years, Rob has served and provided leadership in the energy and infrastructure sectors. Previous roles at Toronto Hydro, Earth Energy (GeoExchange), OZZ Energy Solutions, Horizon Utilities, and in management consulting have contributed to Rob’s broad range of expertise in leading and growing organizations.
Rob sits on the Board of Directors for the Canadian Electricity Association, is Chair of the GridSmartCity Cooperative, a member of the Board of Directors for the Ontario Energy Association (which he formerly chaired), and is an active member of the McMaster Engineering and Management Industrial Advisory Council. He previously sat on the Board of Directors for the United Way Oakville and was the 2015 Chair for the United Way Oakville Campaign Cabinet. He is a long-standing Director with the Oliphant Campers' Association (one of the oldest cottage associations in Canada), as well as the Harbourmaster liaison to Fisheries and Oceans Canada for the Oliphant Harbour. Rob was also recognized with the 2018 Leader of the Year Award by Electricity Human Resources Canada (EHRC).
Rob is a designated professional engineer. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Engineering and Management, as well as a Master of Business Administration, both from McMaster University.
Sean McCaughan, CFA
Chief Strategy and Growth Officer
Sean McCaughan leads the team that scans the business environment and shapes winning strategies accordingly to capture opportunities and enhance shareholder value. In this capacity, Mr. McCaughan also guides business development with responsibility for mergers and acquisitions. He is also a member of the Executive Management team providing governance and oversight for the Corporation.
Mr. McCaughan joined Oakville Enterprises Corporation in May 2017 as Chief Financial Officer. Prior to joining OEC, Mr. McCaughan was the President and CEO of Deep Bay Capital, an advisory firm providing strategic and corporate finance advisory services to the resource sector, mid-market companies and private equity firms.
Mr. McCaughan was also a Senior Vice President at Sherritt International Corporation, an international organization with operations in mining, oil and gas, and power generation. He led Canada’s largest thermal coal operation with $1 billion in revenue and oversaw 1,500 employees. He focused on developing leadership teams, improving operational performance and identifying value creation opportunities.
Other roles included Vice President Investor Relations, Managing Director of Marketing and Business Development, Director of Corporate Development, and was previously an Investment Banker at UBS and Bank of America. Mr. McCaughan has extensive experience in executing and advising on equity and debt financings, and Mergers & Acquisitions transactions.
Mr. McCaughan is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and has an Honours Bachelor of Business Administration from Wilfrid Laurier University. He lives in Oakville with his family and is an active member in his community.
Scott Mudie, P.Eng., MBA
Chief Operating Officer, Oakville Hydro
Scott Mudie serves +73,000 electricity customers as the Chief Operating Officer of Oakville Hydro. Alongside the organization’s ‘leading edge’ engineering, customer service and operations groups, Scott strives to make Oakville Hydro one of the safest, most automated and reliable networks in Canada.
Scott is accountable for Oakville Hydro’s Regulatory and Risk Management, and he provides governance and oversight for the corporation as a member of the Senior Leadership Team. He is currently the Chair of Ontario One Call’s Board of Directors and holds seat on the Board of MEARIE and the CEA Distribution Council.
Prior to his current position, Scott built the brands and companies that form OEC’s Energy and Infrastructure Services lines of business. His successful track record of project development, mergers and acquisitions was gained working in many countries around the world.
Scott previously held positions with General Motors, Ingersoll-Rand and ConAgra Foods. He holds a BSc. in Environmental Engineering from the University of Guelph and is an Ivey Scholar, where he earned his MBA at the Richard Ivey School of Business, University of Western Ontario.
Mary Caputi, CPA, CA
Chief of Staff and Chief Operating Officer, Infrastructure Services
Mary has been engaged in the energy and infrastructure sectors for over 18 years. As Chief of Staff, Mary is responsible for leading the Gender Diversity initiative, Industry Advocacy, and advising on strategic and operational matters to the CEO’s office. In her role as Chief Operating Officer, Infrastructure Services, she is responsible for the locating, engineering and construction group of businesses.
In her past role as Senior Vice President, Enterprise Innovation, Mary led OEC in advancing the organization forward to strategically align the businesses with the fast pace of change, the challenges of new and disruptive technologies, and with the way energy is being transformed.
Previously, Mary held senior roles in Finance, Regulatory Affairs, Energy Conservation, Supply Chain & Facilities, Institutionalized Program Management and Communications at OEC and was the Chief Conservation Officer at Oakville Hydro. Mary serves on the Board of Orangeville Hydro and actively participates in many committees such as the Canadian Electricity Association’s Government and Public Affairs Committee, OEA’s Board Advisory Committee and Chair of the GridSmartCity Supply Chain Committee.
Mary is also a volunteer for the Oakville YMCA’s Finance Committee and previously served for the Halton District School Board’s Audit Committee.
Mary is a graduate of the University of Waterloo with a degree in mathematics and accounting. She obtained her Chartered Accountancy designation in 1998.
Jeff Mocha, P.Eng.
Chief Technology and Innovation Officer
Jeff leads OEC in advancing the organization forward to strategically align the businesses with the fast pace of change, the challenges of new and disruptive technologies, and the ongoing transformation of the energy sector.
Jeff’s previous experience includes responsibility for Oakville Hydro’s Distribution System Operations Control Room, SCADA, Protection & Control systems, and overall Distribution System Asset Management Program. He was also the Project Manager and Technical Lead responsible for the design, construction, and ongoing operation of Oakville Hydro’s first wholly-owned Transformer Station.
Jeff is a graduate of the University of Waterloo with a Bachelor of Applied Science (Electrical Engineering) and is a Professional Engineer in Ontario.
Zorine Fernandes, CHRL
Chief People and Talent Officer
Zorine has over 20 years of extensive experience in Human Resources Management across a wide range of industries in unionized and non-unionized environments. Partnering with businesses, she has led large scale change with organization and culture transformations and delivered results through the optimization of great teams, services and programs.
As Senior Vice President, People Excellence, she is responsible for Human Resources and Labour Relations Strategies and is working to elevate a culture that reflects the organization’s brand behaviours of Lead, Innovate and Commit to Excellence. Zorine excels in enhancing business capabilities and productivity, creating rewarding experiences and supporting business growth. Prior to joining OEC, she held progressively senior roles with The Greater Toronto Airports Authority, Bombardier Aerospace, Triple M Metal and Purolator Courier.
Zorine earned her B.Sc. in Biology and Psychology at Trent University and graduated from Sheridan College’s Human Resources Graduate Program. She is a Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL).
Bethany St. Pierre
Bethany St. Pierre joined OEC in 2019 bringing over 16 years of combined experience as a Law Clerk and an Executive Legal Assistant within a global corporation. Bethany is skilled in corporate governance, legal administration, and documentation.
Bethany holds a Law Clerk diploma from Fanshawe College, and continues to develop her skills and credentials through continuing education, including successful completion of the Corporate Law Clerk and Real Estate Law Clerk Associate level courses (Institute of Law Clerks of Ontario), Corporate Secretary Training for LDC Boards (Mearie Group), and Governance 101 (Governance Professionals of Canada).
